Join Zali for a 45min presentation on the importance of Australia's top-order land-based predator and then continue on to our private
Dingo enclosure to meet two Dingoes up close.

The Talk

On a quarter of a million acres of picturesque outback, Wooleen Station is playing a leading role in preserving and sustaining the unique ecology of the region. Dingoes have an integral role on Wooleen Station for both conservation of the land, and for cattle production. Learn all about their significance here on the station and their role as an apex predator across Australia. We’ll also cover fun Dingo facts, their behaviour and the physiology that makes them so unique. We'll have 15mins for Q&A at the end. (Please note Kiara and Yarlu will not be present at this point)

The Encounter

After the talk, continue on to our private Dingo encounter enclosure where Kiara and Yarlu (Wooleen's brand new team members) will be waiting. During this time the Dingoes will be free to come and go and interact with you at their comfort level. This means that each experience is different. There is plenty of opportunity for photos and questions during the encounter experience.

It is important that participants within the encounter enclosure remain seated and follow the requests of the Dingo handler to ensure the Dingoes enjoy the experience too.

Encounters are subject to availability and minimum numbers and therefore do not run every day. Sometimes urgent tasks arise on the station and animal welfare must take precedent. Be assured we will do everything we can to try and get you on a Dingo Encounter session.

Terms and Conditions

Important Information: Maximum of 10 guests per encounter All adults and children must be comfortable in the presence of animals. Experience is not available to children under the age of 7 Children must be accompanied by a paid participating adult or guardian. Pre-Encounter Measures for Dingo Interaction To provide a seamless and safe interaction during the dingo encounter, all participants are required to follow specific measures prior to the commencement of the session: Mobility Requirements All participants must have the ability to stand and move freely, including the ability to crouch and kneel. These movements may be necessary to engage with the dingoes in a manner that respects their natural behavior and ensures participant safety. Appropriate Footwear For comfort and safety, enclosed footwear is mandatory. This footwear must be suitable for varied surfaces, as the habitat where the dingoes reside may include uneven terrain, rocks, or loose soil. Proper footwear provides stability and protects against any unexpected environmental hazards. Avoiding Distracting Garments and Devices Visually ostentatious garments such as costumes, novelty hats, or excessively bright clothing, along with noisy devices like speakers, whistles, or other sound-emitting gadgets, are not permitted. These can alarm the dingoes or disrupt their natural behavior, diminishing the quality of the experience for everyone. Respectful Movements Guests are instructed to avoid rapid or sudden movements, which can be perceived as threatening by dingoes. Maintaining calm, deliberate motions fosters a relaxed and safe environment for the dingoes and participants alike. Behavioral Guidelines Under no circumstances should guests attempt to corner, chase, or provoke the dingoes into specific behaviors. Such actions not only risk injury to the animals but also undermine the ethical foundation of Wooleen Station's wildlife interactions. Feeding or touching dingoes is strictly prohibited unless specifically invited to do so by Zali Jestrimski, who oversees the dingo program. This rule prevents harm to both the dingoes and the guests while maintaining the animals' natural instincts and boundaries.
